Once you have added an Element to the Smart Form Designer, you can use the edit function to manage the properties of the Element, including its validation rules.
For more information on how to edit an Element, please see this article: How to Edit Elements - General
Navigate to the Validation Tab of the Edit Window
- Once you have opened up the Edit Properties window for a Numeric Element, select the Validation tab at the top of the window.
- For numeric validation rules, you will be able to set the following:
- Text for message to be displayed if the validation rule is not met.
- Type of validation rule.
Set a Validation Rule
There are two types of validation rules supported for Numeric Elements:
- Number Range
- Custom (Formulas)
Number Range
Set a number range for the numeric field with minimum and maximum values.
In the above screenshot example, the validation rule will only accept a number within the range between 2 and 30
Custom
Enter a Salesforce-style formula. When bad syntax is used in a formula, an error message will appear under the formula box in red indicating where the syntax needs to be fixed. You can still save the bad syntax but make sure you correct it before publishing!
In the above screenshot example, the validation formula means that only a number with 4 or 8 digits will be accepted as input.
Create an Error Message
To display a relevant error message in the Axsy Mobile App, enter into the Error Message field the text to display when conditions of the validation rule are not met
